Eastham Library Event Raises $7,500 for Cape Abilities

EASTHAM – The Eastham Public Library’s recent Art Scramble Fundraiser raised awareness and $7,500 for Cape Abilities.

The event featured unique paintings of noted artists from all over New England.

More than 200 of the images were on display in the Turner Gallery at the Library for the month of November.

It culminated in a public “scramble” into the library to purchase the paintings of their choice.

Artists only signed the back of the painting, creating an interesting “mystery” for the purchaser.

The one-day-only fundraiser took place on Saturday, November 24 at the Library with additional support provided by the Chapel of the Pines in Eastham and Eastham Superette.

“Our Art Scramble benefits a local non-profit, and this year we chose Cape Abilities to be the recipient to help assist all of the people in town who we know Cape Abilities serves so well,” said Norma Marcellino, Chair of the Eastham Public Library’s Board of Trustees.

“We are so grateful to the Eastham Public Library Art Committee for demonstrating their support through this amazing event,” said Peggy Boskey, Director of Community Engagement at Cape Abilities.

“Their generosity will benefit the programs and services we provide for hundreds of individuals with disabilities not only in Eastham but all across Cape Cod.”

Cape Abilities serves individuals with disabilities by educating, counseling, providing residential, social, therapeutic and employment supports.

The organization operates programs in Hyannis, Eastham, and Falmouth.
