Eastham Police Cracking Down on Route 6 Speeding

Police CarEASTHAM – Police in Eastham will be cracking down on speeding in town for the remainder of the month, thanks to a state grant.

Eastham Police received the grant from the Massachusetts Highway Safety Division; those funds will allow the police department to pay for extra patrols of the town’s roadways, particularly Route 6.

“Most of the serious crashes we see here in Eastham specifically are on Route 6, so we’re going to focus our attention with enforcement on that road,” said Police Chief Ed Kulhawick, who added that speed is often a factor in crashes on Route 6 in town.

“It is 40 miles-an-hour through our area. It doesn’t rise to 45 like it does in other parts of the Lower Cape, so we please ask folks to please pay attention to that and to drive within the speed limit signs,” Kulhawick added.

Eastham police will also be looking out for aggressive drivers during the period of increased traffic control.
