Eastham selectmen pick next town administrator

EASTHAM – Eastham selectmen picked the internal candidate to be their next town administrator Wednesday.

The board voted to offer Jaqueline Beebe the position after sifting through an initial field of 20 candidates.

Beebe has served as assistant town administrator in Eastham since 2014.

She beat out the other finalist, Timothy King, the current town administrator in Westport.

The candidates were interviewed by selectmen earlier this month and addressed a number of questions surrounding qualifications and prior experience.

King was recently a finalist for the town manager job in Barnstable and also served as Wellfleet’s assistant town manager for three years.

Beebe has worked as director for both the Dennis and Wellfleet Councils on Aging, and served as a Wellfleet selectman.

While she was recruited elsewhere in the past two years for administrative positions, Beebe says Eastham is the town she wants to continue to serve.

Current Town Administrator Sheila Vanderhoef is retiring in March after 25 years of service.
