Eastham Town Administrator Search Narrowed to Two Candidates

EASTHAM – Sifting through a field of 20 candidates, Eastham selectmen have narrowed their search for a new town administrator down to two candidates.

They include Jacqueline Beebe, who has served as Assistant Town Administrator for Eastham since 2014, and Timothy King, who is currently Town Administrator for Westport.

The candidates were interviewed by selectmen earlier this month and addressed a number of questions surrounding qualifications and prior experience.

King, of Harwich, was a finalist for the town manager job in Barnstable, served as Wellfleet’s assistant town manager for three years, and says that when tackling complex issues like budgeting, communication is vital.

“Before I make recommendations to the board of selectmen, I always make sure the department heads and committees that would be affected, that I meet with each of them to go over what my recommendations are,” King said.

Beebe has worked as director for both the Dennis and Wellfleet Council on Aging, and has served as a Wellfleet selectman, and while being recruited elsewhere in the past two years for administrative positions, Beebe says Eastham is the town she wants to continue to serve.

“I have the opportunity to take a ship that’s in great shape and steering well, and help us get to the next more stable place,” Beebe said.

Current Town Administrator Sheila Vanderhoef is retiring in March after 25 years of service, and town officials expect to announce her replacement after the new year.

Eastham selectmen are expected to make a final decision during a meeting on Wednesday at town hall, beginning at 3 p.m.
