Eastham’s Proposed 2019 Budget Is Previewed

EASTHAM – Eastham selectmen and finance committee members have been given a preview of the proposed budget for 2019 from town administrator Jacqui Beebe.

She said that it is not too early for a presentation on next year’s figures. “This budget is still a work in progress, we’re still waiting for some data, but it’s definitely ready for review. We’re pretty confident that the numbers aren’t going to change dramatically,” said Beebe.

Budget goals include improving service levels in the police and recreation departments, focusing on areas the town has been unable to fund, additional part-time help for the DPW, identifying concerns, and addressing long-term spending.

Beebe says that the town’s financial status is positive.

“Overall we look good. Our spending is low compared to other towns, our tax bill is good and we’re managing our resources well,” she said.

The projected revenue for next year is $31 million, a 1.3% increase, while the proposed expenses are $29.1 million.
