Elite Boarding School Finds 5 Cases of Sexual Misconduct

157867210 (1)ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) — An elite Massachusetts boarding school says a review of possible sexual abuse there has uncovered several cases of sexual misconduct by faculty members.

The head of the Phillips Academy in Andover announced the investigation’s findings Tuesday in a letter to the school community. The review was conducted by a law office dedicated to issues facing schools and students.

Head of School John Palfrey says the review found five cases in the 1970s and ’80s in which “former faculty members engaged in sexual misconduct involving students.”

The high school identified three of the ex-faculty members as Stephen Wicks, H. Schuyler Royce and Alexander Theroux. Theroux was a writer-in-residence.

The school says Theroux has denied the allegations. He hasn’t returned a message left at a phone number listed for him.

Wicks hasn’t returned two messages.
