Embattled Mashpee Superintendent Hyde In Line For Bonus

MASHPEE – Mashpee Schools Superintendent Brian Hyde is getting a $6,000 bonus, as he awaits trial on breaking and entering and trespassing charges.

According to the Mashpee Enterprise, Hyde is getting the bonus because the school system was elevated to a level 2 rating by the state. The school committee voted 3-1 in April to approve the raise in the event the school’s ranking improved.

Hyde makes $154,000 per year.

Hyde was placed on paid administrative leave by the school committee in November shortly after pleading not guilty to the charges stemming from a residency check at a student’s home in September. The School Committee named Assistant Superintendent Patricia DeBoer as Acting Superintendent.

A bench trial date has been set for January 15. The case will be heard in Falmouth District Court.

Marilyn King, the mother of the student involved in the residency check, alleges that Hyde trespassed into their home during his investigation.

King, who had recently purchased a house on Windsor Way in Mashpee, said Hyde arrived at the home unannounced and entered uninvited to search her daughter’s room, who was trying to re-enroll at Mashpee High School.
