Emergency Warning System Test Planned On Nantucket

nantucket harborNANTUCKET – Nantucket’s new emergency siren system will be activated and tested for the first time today.

Testing will be conducting between 10 am and noon today. Residents are advised that the sounding sirens will just be a drill.

Officials have installed three sirens across the island to warn residents in the event of an emergency. Each siren will be individually before testing the alarms simultaneously.

The sirens are located on Fairgrounds Road, in Madaket, and in Sconset. Officials believe the alarms will be heard on most, if not all, of the island.
