Energy Company Offers Ways to Keep Cool and Save on Energy Costs

CAPE COD-  With the first heat wave of the year expected over the next several days, Eversource Energy is warning people of skyrocketing power draw due to AC and fan use.

To help customers endure the peak of summertime heat and the bills that come with it, the company is offering easy tips to keep homes more comfortable.

Tips include increasing the temperature on air conditioners by keeping them set at a moderate cool throughout the day, keeping air vents clear of obstructions such as furniture, curtains, and rugs also helps with not over-exhausting the system.

For those with central air and floor vents, homeowners can consider using vent deflectors to direct, and increase the reach of cooled air.

Finally, Eversource says that you should save major appliance use until the late evening or early morning, when there is less demand on the electric system.
