Erosion From Extreme High Tides Prompts Closure of Marconi Beach

WELLFLEET – The Cape Cod National Seashore has closed the stairs at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet after they were undercut by the recent extreme high tides.

A post on social media from the Seashore said the lower level of the stairs is not stable.

As a result the access road to Marconi has also been closed.

Officials said they were in the process of evaluating the situation.

The stairs at Marconi were just rebuilt at the beginning of the 2018 beach season.
