FALMOUTH – The body of a Florida Deputy Sheriff, and Falmouth native, who was killed while on duty last weekend will arrive in Massachusetts Sunday.

John Kotfila Jr. died when his cruiser was struck by a wrong way driver.

A police escort will transport Kotfila from Logan Airport to the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home in Falmouth between 6 and 7 p.m.

The public is welcome to join law enforcement and stand along Route 28 between the Bourne Bridge and the funeral home to pay respects.

A wake will be held Tuesday with a Funeral service and burial planned for Wednesday.

Kotfila’s father is a sergeant with the Massachusetts State Police Bourne Barracks and his brother is an officer with the Falmouth Police Department.

A witness to the horrific crash said Kotfila saved her life. Sarah Geren told reporters in Tampa she saw the driver coming at her and flashed her lights trying to get his attention. Thats when she said Deputy Kotfila put himself between her and the wrong way driver likely sparing her life.
