Eversource Ranked Among Nation’s Greenest Companies

BARNSTABLE – The Cape’s electricity provider has been recognized as one of the nation’s most green companies.

Eversource Energy was ranked 20th in the country by Newsweek Magazine for corporate sustainability and environmental performance. The publication ranks the top 500 greenest companies in the United States each year.

It’s the highest Eversource has ever landed on the list. The company also placed fourth among utilities in the nation.

“It’s very rewarding to see our commitment to environmental sustainability be recognized in this way,” said Eversource President, Chairman, and CEO Jim Judge. “With the support of our employees, we will continue to build on the number 1 ranking of our energy efficiency programs, grow our clean energy portfolio, and partner with our customers and communities as stewards for our environment.”

The list is compiled by assessing waste and water productivity, levels of greenhouse gas emissions, and the objectivity and transparency of environmental performance data.

Eversource says they have reduced their carbon footprint in recent years via operational and infrastructure enhancements.

Eversource provides power to Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
