Eversource Rates May Be Going Down

BOSTON – Eversource rates may be going down.  The newly passed federal tax law means the company will pay millions less.

Operation President Craig Hallstrom points out that their rates are based on costs, which will be greatly reduced by the tax breaks.

Their decision has already been communicated to the Department of Public Utilities.

The Eastern Massachusetts service area could see a rate reduction of $35.4 million.

Since the new law is extremely complex, the company’s tax department will have to calculate the exact amounts.  The income tax rate for corporations is going from 35% to 21%.
