Eversource Receives Industry Award for Winter Power Restoration Efforts

BOSTON – Eversource has been recognized by an industry organization for their work in restoring power to the region during this past winter’s storms.

The Edison Electric Institute presented Eversource with their “Emergency Recovery Award” for what it deemed as outstanding power restoration efforts in the wake of the three March nor’easters that hit Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut.

“The work of Eversource’s crews to restore service following [the storms] illustrates our industry’s dedication to serving our customers,” said EEI President Tom Kuhn. “Eversource crews worked in dangerous and difficult conditions to restore power to customers safely and as quickly as possible, and are truly deserving of this award.”

“This national honor truly belongs to our employees, who were the driving force behind our successful restoration after back-to-back storms,” said Eversource Chairman, President and CEO Jim Judge. “It was a demanding task for crews, considering they worked day-after-day for weeks, addressing extensive damage to restore power for our customers through three consecutive storms. The tremendous hard work of our employees – in the field and behind the scenes – demonstrated their commitment to being there for our customers and communities when they need us.”

The Edison Electric Institute represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, representing about 220 million American power customers.

The award is given to the organization’s member companies to recognize their response to severe weather events. The winners are chosen by a panel of judges after an international nomination process.
