Exhibit of Nationally Renowned Portrait Artist to Open in Cotuit

COTUIT – An exhibition of contemporary portraits by a nationally renowned artist is about to open in Cotuit.

The Cahoon Museum of American Art will present the work of Jon R. Friedman beginning Tuesday.

The portrait studies displayed will range from elaborate, finished compositions to works with heads and hands rendered but the settings quickly sketched.

The collection of work on display will provide a unique view into the process of contemporary portraiture by a master portrait artist.

Friedman, who resides in New York City and Truro works in a variety of genres including landscape painting and sculpture.

He has received portrait commissions from Barney Frank, Michael Bloomberg, Ben Bernanke and Ted Turner.

A reception for the exhibit will be held on July 1st from 5:30 to 7:00 and Friedman will give a talk on July 14 at 11.

The exhibit runs through August 14th.

The Cahoon Museum, located on Route 28, is open six days a week from Tuesday through Sunday.
