Fall Events to Benefit Water Quality in Buzzards Bay

buzzards-bay-coalitionNEW BEDFORD – Threats to the water quality of Buzzards Bay have been visible recently with the return of “rust tide” and the erosion of salt Marsh, and the public can help by supporting two upcoming fall events from the Buzzards Bay Coalition.

Residents and visitors can bike for clean water at the 10th annual Buzzards Bay Watershed RIDE on Sunday, October 2.

The ride includes water stops, lunch at Eastover Farm in Rochester and a seaside after-party on Cape Cod.

The Rides are 100, 75, 35 and 11 miles. Kids 11 and under are free with a registered parent on the 11-mile family ride.

If bikes aren’t for you, the annual Buzzards Bay Coalition Golf Outing might be.

The public will get a rare chance to play the Bay Club in Mattapoisett.

Foursomes will play a tournament with awards, prizes and putting contest on Tuesday, October 11.

Registration includes 18 holes, greens fees, cart rental, drinks and snacks, a buffet lunch and a lively after-party at the Golf House Restaurant with a silent auction.
