Falmouth Chamber of Commerce Announces 2019 Citizen of the Year

FALMOUTH – The 2019 Citizen of the Year in Falmouth has been chosen.

Laura Lorusso Peterson has been selected by the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Committee. After reviewing the submitted nominations, the committee chose Peterson for the award.

Peterson, who is President of Cape Cod Aggregates Corp., has been a recipient of the Community No Guff Award, is a board member and volunteer of the Falmouth Service Center, serves on Cape Cod Five’s Human Need and Economic Donation Advisory Committee, is a supporter of Jack’s Pact-Falmouth, Independence House, Calmer Choice, the Community Health Center of Cape Cod and volunteers with the Falmouth Military Support Group.

Peterson has been lauded for her volunteer service to the Falmouth Public Schools as a Volunteers in Public Schools (VIPS) mentor and her service on the Teaticket PTO as a volunteer and past president. She has served on the Falmouth School Committee and, along with other members of her family, was recognized in 2016 by the Falmouth Education Foundation for her dedication to the Falmouth community.

She is also a past member of the Falmouth Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and has been a Falmouth Town Meeting Member since 2006.

The Falmouth Chamber of Commerce will celebrate and honor Laura Lorusso Peterson as the 2019 Citizen of the Year at its 105th Annual Meeting and Award Dinner on Thursday, April 11 at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel, located at 350 Quaker Road in North Falmouth.

The event, sponsored by Cape Cod Five, will begin at 4:30 p.m. and include business reports from the previous year and host the election of new directors to the chamber board. It will be followed by a networking cocktail hour with cash bar at 5:00 p.m. and buffet dinner at 6:00 p.m.

Dinner is $65 per person, or $650 for reserved tables of ten. Registration, including payment, is requested by Friday, April 5.
