Falmouth Chefs to Host Safe Plates’ Event Monday

FALMOUTH – On Monday, Falmouth chefs will host a Safe Plates’ gig for AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, which plans to purchase a mobile outreach medical clinic for the Falmouth area.

Chefs Laura Higgins-Baltzley and her husband Brandon Baltzley, owners of the Buffalo Jump, will host the event at the Waquoit Congregational Church.

The event will feature food such as summer chicken, baked beans, cold rice salad, green salad, and a vegetarian/gluten-free option.

Annie Konner-Higgins, owner of Peck O’Dirt Farm Bakery will provide a tasty dessert of blueberry buckle.

In addition to the food patrons can enjoy lawn games and music, including an acoustic set played by Luke Vose and John McNamara, members of the band Crooked Coast.

The AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod saves lives through prevention, education, and life-sustaining services that address public health crises to build healthy communities across the Cape and Islands.

“The AIDS Support Group provides a range of valuable services to the Cape,” Baltzley said.

“It plays an important role as our communities address the challenge of addiction.”

Misty Niemeyer with Engage Falmouth sees that Safe Plates dinner as a way to bring the community together.

“We want to help build the ties that connect us one to the other,” she said.

“What better way than with a meal prepared by amazing chefs?”

“The upcoming ‘Safe Plates’ event at the Waquoit Congregational Church will be a wonderful opportunity for our staff to spend time with our new neighbors in Falmouth; we are especially appreciative of the fundraising efforts to support our new Mobile Medical Outreach Van, which will allow us to provide vital, life-saving services in a venue that will work will for the residents of Falmouth.”

The Safe Plates dinner is sponsored by Engage Falmouth and No Place for Hate-Falmouth.

All proceeds from the event will benefit AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod mobile outreach medical clinic Falmouth.

The Safe Plates Dinner is set to take place Monday, August 26th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Waquoit Congregational Church located at 15 Parsons Lane and Route 28 in East Falmouth.

Suggested donations are $12 for adults, $8 for children age 9 and younger. Dessert is $3.
