Falmouth Finalizing Preparations for Annual Fireworks Display

FALMOUTH – There are just over two weeks until the Fourth of July holiday and towns across the Cape are hard at work finalizing preparations for public festivities.

In Falmouth, the town’s fireworks committee has been planning, for nearly a year now, a celebration centered on the theme of “God Bless America.”

The famous Irving Berlin song was written one century ago while Berlin served as a captain during World War I.

For the 30th year the fireworks themselves will be designed and orchestrated by Atlas Pyro-Vision, an award winning firm which has been selected to represent the United States in an upcoming worldwide fireworks competition.

This year’s Falmouth Fireworks celebration will also feature a special pre-fireworks performance by Massachusetts native and American Idol finalist, Ayla Brown.

As always, the Fireworks Committee is looking for some help from the community for fund their efforts. Falmouth Fireworks gear – including hats, t-shirts, and sweatshirts are available while supplies last at a number of local businesses.

“We ask for donations, we’ve already sent out mailings. I think that we’ve built up such a reputation that the money is lot easier to come by. I’m not saying we get it all, but the money is a lot easier to come by,” said Arthur Ratsy, one of the founders of the Falmouth fireworks show.

This year’s Falmouth Fireworks logo design was selected by the artist Karen Rinaldo to celebrate “God Bless America” and it’s American spirit of pride patriotism.

“Some 38 years ago we were sitting around one winter and someone said ‘let’s have fireworks,’ and it all started from there,” said Ratsy.
