Falmouth Group Seeking Donations to House the Homeless

homelessFALMOUTH – A program in Falmouth that houses the homeless during the winter, is asking the public for donations to pay for all day stays in hotels.

Organizer Paul Rifkin says the goal is to provide a place to stay during the day so homeless individuals aren’t forced outside to fend for themselves.

“We’re going to continue to do that through the end of March and the reason we’re doing it is because God is telling us to and we don’t want anyone to freeze to death this winter,” said Rifkin.

The program has been paying for hotel stays for approximately five homeless men and three homeless women.

Rifkin said donations will also help to pay for meals and any money left over will continue to help the homeless.

“If we get more money than we need, we’ll be using it to help them find more permanent housing as the year goes by,” said Rifkin.

Donations can be made by check and mailed to St. Barnabas Church, P.O. Box 203, Falmouth, MA 02541 with “Belonging to Each Other” written in the memo line.
