Falmouth Gun Buyback Coalition to Buyback Guns in Falmouth

FALMOUTH – In an effort to get dangerous, unwanted and unused weapons out of local homes, the Falmouth Gun Buyback Coalition will be doing just what their name implies.

The 10-member organization, with the support of the Falmouth Board of Selectmen, is hosting a gun buyback event next month. The program will allow residents to bring in their weapons anonymously, with no questions asked, in return for a $25 of $50 dollar gift card.

Coalition founder Richard Duby said that unlike in other, similar programs were weapon components are recycled into new guns, all guns collected at this event will be sent off site and destroyed.

“Firearms are inherently dangerous and we are not taking a position pro or anti-gun, it is not the object of the coalition and all,” said Duby,

“What we are attempting to do is to make the citizens of Falmouth a bit more safe in their homes.”

In order to make the event a success, the Falmouth Gun Buyback Coalition is requesting donations to help raise up to $15,000 for gift cards. Donations can be made through the coalition’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FalmouthGunBuybackDay.

The gun buyback event will take place on Saturday, June 9th at the Falmouth Police Station.
