Falmouth Prescription Drug Take Back Day “Successful”

drugsFALMOUTH – Organizers of the 11th Prescription Drug Take Back Day last month have said that the event was a big success.

The event, which encourages the proper disposal of prescription drugs in an effort to prevent accidental poisoning, overdose and abuse, was put on by Gosnold on Cape Cod, the Falmouth Prevention Partnership and Falmouth Police.

Over 130 people took part in the event with 630 pounds of prescription drugs collected.

That’s a 34 percent increase from the last Take Back event in September.

Every town of Cape Cod now has a medication disposal kiosk that is open 24/7 at the local police station, where residents are encouraged to drop off unwanted medication throughout the year.
