Falmouth Public Schools New Superintendent Getting Settled

FALMOUTH- A new face will soon be seen in the Falmouth Public School System as Lori Duerr takes the reigns as the town’s new Superintendent.

Duerr joins the organization after serving the last few years as the Assistant Superintendent of the Colonial School District in New Castle, Delaware, and says that her welcome to the Cape so far has been very positive.

“Falmouth is a beautiful community. I can’t say enough about how warm and welcoming everyone has been since we have been here,” says Duerr.

”The school district itself is a fabulous school district, its vision aligns with my own philosophy… [I’ve seen first-hand that] putting kids first is… very evident from talking with parents, teachers, [and even] administrators,” she adds.

During her time in Falmouth Duerr has stressed that she does not intend to make any drastic changes to the daily operation of her schools, but wants to focus more on community engagement and academic growth.

“What I am really doing in the first 90 days is really listening and learning, so I am trying to talk to as many parents, and teachers, and students just about what makes Falmouth great, and if they did want changes or if they wanted something new, what would those things be? What should I be focusing on from the community’s perspective as Superintendent?” says Duerr.

During school breaks, Duerr plans to spend as much time outdoors exploring the local wildlife with her husband Douglas, and getting to know the Cape Cod Bike Trail.
