Falmouth Public Schools Turning to Social Media to Boost Employment

FALMOUTH- Falmouth school officials are turning to a less traditional way of recruiting new teachers and staff for this up-coming school year, social media.

“Our employees have been able to take postings that are sent to them every week and share them with other highly qualified, good candidates to come into Falmouth Public Schools, and join the team,” says Dr. Joany Santa, Director of Human Resources for FPS.

Thanks to the new Facebook and Twitter pages, recent reports indicate that the number of applicants town-wide rose approximately 65 percent.

In addition, these new tools have also allowed the district to target regional universities that can recruit local teachers straight out of college to fill vacant positions, and ultimately give back to the town’s youth.

“Whenever someone applies that was a Falmouth High school graduate it is a coming home of sorts [for them and for us], the dedication is certainly there,” says Santa.

For those who are skeptical about the new digital changes, Dr. Santa’s team says that they will still maintain a ‘personal touch’ by continuing in-person interview sessions to process applications, and to answer questions that any new employees might have.
