FALMOUTH – The Falmouth School Committee has named interim School Superintendent Nancy Taylor to the job on a permanent basis.
She’s been leading the district since Bonny Gifford left the position last year.
The school committee made their final choice Tuesday night from an initial field of 12 applicants.
“Nancy has distinguished herself since taking over as interim Superintendent in July,” said School Committee Chairman Alan Jacobs.
“She has shown an excellent grasp of the complexities of preparing the school district’s budget, commitment to identifying ways to effective working relationships with all levels of school staff, the school committee, community members, and municipal and town officials in a commitment to improving the academic achievement of Falmouth’s students,” Jacobs said.
Taylor is a Falmouth native and graduated from Falmouth High School. Her employment is contingent on a successful contract negotiation with the school committee.
Her prior experience in the Falmouth School District includes Assistant Superintendent/Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Principal, Assistant Principal, Guidance Department Head, and Guidance Counselor.
She worked in collaboration with the Lawrence School teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop an Innovation plan in 2011.
“All of us on the school committee look forward to continuing to support and work with Nancy as our Superintendent of Schools,” said Jacobs.
