Falmouth Selectmen Issue Warning to 3 Used Car Dealers

FALMOUTH – Three used car dealers in Falmouth were issued warnings last month by Selectmen after having vehicles found without warranty stickers during a state inspection.

The Division of Professional Licensure found vehicles at Executive Auto Center, Battles Auto Center and Falmouth Auto Center without the yellow stickers which alert customers to the Massachusetts used vehicle warranty law.

Executive Auto Center had 10 vehicles without stickers, and Battles Auto and Falmouth Auto were without five and three stickers respectively.

“We’d like everyone in the town that has a used car license to put these prominent stickers on because it protects the consumer and it protects the licensee,” said Christopher Carrol, the chief inspector for the DPL.

Carrol told Selectmen the violation is minor.

I could tell you other stories throughout the Commonwealth where they didn’t have log books, where they didn’t have records, where they didn’t have bonds to protect the consumers,” Carrol said. “But not in Falmouth.”

Greg Battles, of Battles Auto Center, said the violation was a complete oversight.

“When it was pointed out we rectified it so I’m confident that if the inspectors come through again, we’ll welcome them and get a clean bill of health,” Battles said.

Representatives from Executive Auto Center and Falmouth Auto Center did not appear before selectmen.
