Falmouth Turf Field Project Put On Hold For Now

fieldFALMOUTH – Residents in Falmouth who have been working to get an artificial turf field installed at Falmouth High School have put the project on hold for now, with Planning Committee members saying the field doesn’t fit into the town’s plans or budget at this time.

“There are some other funding challenges, if you will, for the schools that need to be addressed,” said Michael Duffany, who has been helping to spearhead the turf field effort. “We just don’t want this to get in the way of some of those projects.”

Duffany added that planning will be put off until at least the spring, but says they do hope to get back to work on the project at a more appropriate time.

“We’re getting folks that are still telling us that they’re against it, but yet we’re having a groundswell of other support since we’ve decided to hold back for a while. We’re going to see how that all plays out,” said Duffany.

The project is estimated to cost about $2.8 million, with about $1.6 million coming from the town.
