Falmouth Water Projects on Schedule, DPW Director Says

KA_Falmouth_lake water behind St. Barnabas Episcopal church_111215 (1)FALMOUTH – Water projects costing over $60 combined are on schedule for completion, according to Falmouth Department of Public Works (DPW) director Raymond Jack.

He updated selectmen recently on the status of the Little Pond sewer project, which he says is over 70 percent completed. The work will result in over 1,400 homes connected to the town sewer, and will be officially completed in the spring when roads can be paved.

Jack said the $21.4 million contract is $962,000 over budget.

He also said the $40.9 million water treatment project is about 70 percent complete.

Meanwhile, Jack said the department has also rectified some smaller issues which had long been a concern, such as a smelly manhole on Service Road.

“For several decades there was a noticeable odor, and all of the wastewater coming up to the plant comes through that road,” he said.

The town has installed a biofilter to reduce the stench, he said.

Additionally, two recharge beds required for extra water flow produced by the Little Pond sewer project are almost entirely completed.
