Falmouth Welcomes Home Fallen Deputy Sheriff

FALMOUTH – The body of a Florida Deputy Sheriff, and Cape Cod native, was transported from Logan International Airport to a Falmouth funeral home Sunday afternoon.

John Kotfila Jr. was killed by a wrong way driver while on duty in Florida on March 12.

Fellow officers and civilians lined the route and filled the Bourne rotary to pay their respects.

A wake will be held for Kotfila on Tuesday at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason funeral home in Falmouth from 4 to 8 p.m. A ceremonial police walk-through will be held at 5 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Falmouth.

Kotfila’s father is sergeant with the Massachusetts State Police and his brother is an officer with the Falmouth Police Department.
