HYANNIS – Visitors to the Bismore Park Welcome Center in Hyannis this summer will have the opportunity to “Discover Barnstable” through a number of family friendly events and games.

The outreach program, organized by the Town of Barnstable and the Greater Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, is designed to share with residents and visitors the wide range of resources the town provides year round.

Free activities include natural wildlife exploration, where visitors will have the opportunity to hold stuffed skunks, owls and hawks, see live turtles and hear about the different species; step into a 31-foot custom built motorcoach to learn about Cape Cod’s coastal environment; turn a print of cyano-bacteria into bracelets and bookmarks, and identify which plants are friends and foe; practice putting with a golf pro; stay for library story time and crafts; and hula hoop for fun and fitness.

All programs are free, family-friendly, and handicapped accessible. They and are scheduled for Mondays, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM and Thursdays, 4:30 until 5:30 PM, through the end of August.
