Family, Friends Pay Respects to Granddaughter of RFK

CENTERVILLE – Family and friends celebrated the life of Saoirse Kennedy Hill Monday with funeral services at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville.

Hill, a 22-year-old Boston College Student, died Thursday after police responded to the Kennedy Compound in Hyannis Port for a reported drug overdose and she was pronounced dead at Cape Cod Hospital.

A private burial followed the service.

Hill was the daughter of Robert and Ethel Kennedy’s fifth child, Courtney, and Paul Michael Hill.

According to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office, an autopsy showed no signs of trauma, but investigators would look to toxicology reports for the exact cause and manner of death.

Following Hill’s death a statement from the Robert F. Kennedy family said “her life was filled with hope, promise and love.”

The statement also said she was moved by the causes of human rights and women’s empowerment and enjoyed volunteer work, including working alongside indigenous communities to build schools in Mexico.
