Pantry PicHARWICH PORT – The Family Pantry of Cape Cod held their annual summer benefit this month at the Wychmere Beach Club in Harwich Port, kicking off their Shop for the Hungry campaign with a large donation.

David and Gail Oppenheim made a $50,000 gift to the pantry, in honor of recently retired former Executive Director Mary Anderson. Anderson spent 11 years in charge of the organization.

State Senator Dan Wolf was recognized with the Founders award, recognizing his support of the pantry over the years. Rick Roy, of Rick Roy Construction, was honored with the President’s Award. Roy was recognized for his work in re-configuring the pantry’s warehouse.

The Family Pantry is the largest pantry on Cape Cod, providing food to 9,000 residents, including 2,600 children, in need each year. Last year, the pantry distributed over 54,000 bags of food across the region.
