HARWICH – Less than two weeks after The Family Pantry of Cape Cod announced a $1 million dollar capital campaign, the organization has received two major donations.

David and Gail Oppenheim have donated $50,000 and Cape Cod Five has donated $25,000.

As a result, the Family Pantry can provide an additional 300,000 meals to those in need.

The “Shop for the Hungry” campaign aims to pay off the organization’s thrift shop, which supports more than 9,000 people annually.

The Family Pantry of Cape Cod was founded in 1989 and is the largest food pantry on the Cape, serving 1,200 families a month.

This year, the Pantry has distributed $3.5 million in food and clothing to Cape Cod individuals and families in need.
