HARWICH – The Family Pantry of Cape Cod serves more than 1,200 families in need a month, and the non-profit will soon connect with local residents with medical conditions on weekly basis to discuss and encourage healthy eating habits.

The Foods to Encourage program aims to connect residents with high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes with local nurses and nutritionists to help improve dietary approaches.

At each visit, the nutritionist will provide the client with a health recipe to try out.

The nurse and nutritionist will track the patient’s health indicators over the weeks and will let the client know how their eating habits are positively impacting their health during the program.

The program is not only open to clients of the pantry, all can participate. Interested residents can visit the Family Pantry of Cape Cod on Tuesday mornings from 9:30-11:30 am to take part.

The program starts in November and will run through January.

The Family Pantry is the Cape’s largest food pantry.
