BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts and New Hampshire will work together to fight the trafficking of heroin and fentanyl using a new federal grant.
Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey and New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald asked for funding from the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services at the Department of Justice.
Members of Congress from both states announced Friday that nearly $3 million was awarded to support the partnership.
The money will be used for an Anti-Heroin Task Force to investigate and interdict narcotics.
The Massachusetts and New Hampshire congressional delegations said in a joint statement that drug trafficking knows no borders, which is why working across state lines is so important.
They say law enforcement needs all the help they can get to address the opioid crisis.
