WELLFLEET – Today marks the final day for public comment as the Cape Cod National Seashore considers changes to its kite surfing policy.
Current regulations prohibit kite surfing from mid-March to mid-October in an attempt to protect nesting shorebirds, but there are signs that the Seashore may be willing to ease some of those restrictions.
In October, Superintendent George Price lifted the ban on kite surfing early and opened a public comment period on the matter. The Seashore held an open house in October to hear from the public on the park’s policy.
“Many passionate kite surfers attended the open house and stated their positions,” Price said.
