Osterville Free Library
OSTERVILLE – The work of Bostonian photojournalist Mark Person is on display this month at the Osterville Free Library.
The “Finding Peace” collection from the longtime Cape Cod and Boston resident, Mark Person, will be exhibited through August 31.
Person is a photographer for the “Boston City Paper” and “Columbus Times,” and the owner of M. Person Photography.
His photos have been described as simplistic, pure and emotive of spirit. Some have compared his work to that of Ansel Adams.
Person discovered his passion in 2010 on Cape Cod Bay while capturing a sunset over still water.
“I realized a deep buried truth about what’s really important in life,” he said. “With it came a profound sense of peace that a new dawn was about to break.”
He said some of the pieces in “Finding Peace” are bittersweet personally and helped him discover who he is and how amazing it is to be alive.
About half of the pieces in the exhibit are on public display for the first time.
The library will also host an artist reception on Thursday, August 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
“We are thrilled to have Mark’s caliber of photography at the library,” said Cyndy Cotton, the executive director of the Osterville Free Library. “It combines extraordinary views of life and provides the diversity of art we like to bring to the library.”
All art is available for purchase at the reception and throughout the month.
The library is located at 43 Wianno Avenue in Osterville.
A native of Columbus, Georgia, Person also works as an artist/music promoter/host/TV producer through his company Middleman Productions.
