First Stranded Sea Turtles Flown South by Volunteer Pilot

HYANNIS – The Cape’s sea turtle stranding season began earlier than usual this year and the New England Aquarium’s Animal Care Center in Quincy is was able to free up space due to the help of a volunteer pilot.

Twenty-eight rescued sea turtles were transported to North Carolina by pilot Ed Filangeri to continue recovery or be released.

It is the fifth time Filangeri has flown turtles south through the non-profit Turtles Fly Too.
