Fishermen’s Alliance to Hold Vineyard Wind Farm Meeting

CHATHAM – The Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance is hosting a community meeting next week with the representatives of an offshore wind developer looking to build a wind farm south of Martha’s Vineyard.

Officials from Vineyard Wind and electricity cooperative Vineyard Power will detail their plans for the farm. The developer says they will not ask for fishing restrictions near the proposed turbines.

Vineyard Wind won a federal bidding process for the lease site and now needs state and federal permitting approval for the project to move forward. The group is required to meet with local fishermen as part of their efforts to construct the farm.

The meeting will resolve around fishing issues, but the Fishermen’s Alliance says all are welcome to attend.

The forum is scheduled for 6 p.m. on February 15 at the Cape Cod Commercial Fishermen’s Alliance on at 1566 Main Street in Chatham
