EAST FALMOUTH – A Forestdale teen was crowned the 2015-2016 Pow Wow Princess at this past weekend’s Pow Wow, hosted by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.

Abigail Peters, 16, was chosen from a final group of four.

To be considered as a candidate for Pow Wow Princess, candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and be active in their community.

They’re also required to have a strong knowledge of the tribe’s history and culture, and have participated in other Pow Wows, particularly through dance.

The Mashpee tribe’s 94th Annual Pow Wow wrapped up on Sunday in East Falmouth. The theme was “Honoring All Our Relations – Land and Life.”
