Former Brewster Police Chief to Run for School Committee

BREWSTER – Dick Koch recently retired as the Chief of Police in Brewster and now he is seeking a seat on the town’s school committee.

Koch, who spent more than 30 years with the department and previously served on the Nauset Regional School District committee, says he was motivated to run after hundreds of parents expressed concerns about safety at the elementary schools.

“I have a vested interest in Brewster elementary school safety, and the safety of all schools in the Nauset region,” Koch said. “The sexual misconduct charges and arrest of a Stony Brook School techer are devastating to all of us. Now is the time to move forward in positive, productive ways to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.”

While serving on the Nauset committee and as police chief, Koch was a strong advocate for school safety improvements and the institution of school safety officers.
