Former Indy Driver to Visit Heritage Museums & Gardens

SANDWICH – A former Indy driver and broadcast personality will be at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich next weekend.

Lyn St. James will meet museum visitors and sign copies of her book, “An Incredible Journey,” on Saturday, May 19.

The 71-year-old St. James competed in the IndyCar series with 11 CART and five Indy Racing League starts. She was also the second woman to ever qualify for the Indianapolis 500.

From 11 a.m. to noon a live, racing-focused interview with St. James will be held inside the Automobile Gallery.

In the afternoon from 2 to 3 p.m., St. James will give another talk highlighting her journey from spectator to the first female Indy 500 Rookie of the Year.

Both forums are open to the public and are free with museum admission.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy examples of Italy’s premier luxury auto brands on display at Heritage’s Nickerson Field starting at 10:30 a.m., along with the Indy 500 exhibit currently on display.

Admission to Heritage is $18 for Adults, $8 for youth and free for children 2 and younger and members.
