Former Whitehall Nursing Home in Hyannis on the Market

HYANNIS – The long-vacant former Whitehall Nursing Home in Hyannis is on the market.

Originally built in 1967, the former Whitehall facility is located on Falmouth Road across from Barnstable Intermediate School, and sits on nearly three acres land.

The property, which is being offered for $2.5 million, has been in disrepair for years with residents and local officials calling for development at the site.

The Lyndon P. Larusso Foundation which owns the property has retained John E. Ciluzzi, President of Premier Commercial, of Centerville, to manage the sale.

“There has been much speculation as to what will eventually happen with this site, as it has always been a property of high interest,” Ciluzzi said,

“We anticipate regional and national interest in this very unique redevelopment opportunity.”

Local officials have suggested that the site would be ideal for a future housing development.

“In real estate, one of the core evaluations investors and developers anyalyze is location,” Ciluzzi said,

“In this case, the location at 850 Falmouth Road, has no peer. A 2.98 acre parcel situated in such a fantastic location does simply not come up very often, if ever.”

The Larusso Foundation has owned the property since 2005, board members determined that the present real estate market makes this a good time to sell.
