ORLEANS – Employers, particularly owners of small businesses, regularly find an employee’s skills lacking what the company really needs. This is often due to not enough training, usually because of a shortage of training funds in the budget.
The good news is that Massachusetts has put aside a significant amount of money to assist in this area. Employers who wish to take advantage of this opportunity should get in touch with The Center for Corporate and Professional Education at Cape Cod Community College, which has an expert staff ready to help.
They will be doing just that at a free information session on Wednesday from 1:00 to3:00 at the Old Firehouse Gallery in Orleans.
Tammi Jacobsen, Director of Workforce Development and Training, says there will also be advisers coming over the bridge. “Representatives will be coming down from the state. We’ll be talking about features and requirements of the Workforce Training Fund programs and the availability of funds for eligible employers throughout the region.”
The session is for large and small employers.
These grants have aided in the complete spectrum of workforce development, from entry to executive level.
Jacobsen adds that they are not talking about chump change. “Employees are eligible to receive up to $250,000 for training. Eligibility requirements are based on employers paying into the unemployment fund.” Over the last two years, CCAPE has helped local employers obtain more than $400,000 in grant-supported training.
Although the information session is free, to ensure adequate seating and refreshments, participants are asked to register at this web address: http://workforcetrainingfund.org/events.MA.
