Free ‘Stop The Bleed’ Course Can Save Lives

SOUTH YARMOUTH – A free course today called “Stop the Bleed” will be offered by Cape Cod CPR & First Aid Training at its South Yarmouth facility.

Cape Cod CPR co-owner Matt Regan explains that its purpose is just what the name infers.  “To offer the general public and civilians the training to save a life and literally stop the bleed, and being able to control hemorrhage.”

A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, so immediate care is paramount.

President Obama Launched the program in 2015 as an effort to encourage bystanders to become trained and equipped to assist in a bleeding emergency.

Regan is quick to point out that this is in no way an indictment of first responders.  “Statistics have shown, unfortunately, in all of these situations that with bystander care, more lives could have been saved.  First responders are fantastic once they reach the patients involved, but the reality is bystanders are there.”

Those who wish to attend should sign-up at CapeCPR.com to reserve a spot. They can also call Cape Cod CPR directly at 508-364-4750.
