Friends of Bass River Introducing New Executive Director

SOUTH YARMOUTH – The Friends of Bass River will introduce their new Executive Director at an event next week.

Brian Weiner will be on hand at Thirwood Place in Yarmouth for the Coffee with the Founders gathering from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday May 9. Attendees will get an update from organization officials on their plans for the spring and summer seasons.

Organizers are asking those interested in attending to RVSP by May 7 by e-mailing [email protected]

Weiner was announced as the new head of the nonprofit in April.

“We are thrilled to welcome Brian to the team. His corporate and nonprofit expertise combined with his energy and passion for improving Bass River make him the ideal choice to take our organization to the next level,” Co-Founders DeWitt Davenport, Mark Anschutz, and Bob Churchill said in a joint statement. “Brian’s wealth of nonprofit leadership experience will be an incredible asset as we work towards the goals we must achieve to save the river.”

Weiner will represent the group before government officials, civic groups, towns, and the public to raise awareness of the issues the river faces. He will also be charged with all fundraising activities.

The Friends of Bass River was launched in 2017 in an effort to protect the ecosystem of the Bass River Estuarine System.
