Fund for Sandwich to Assist Local Nonprofits and Initiatives

KA_Sandwich_Board Walk31_111715SANDWICH – A new fund has been established to help community improvement efforts and nonprofits in Sandwich.

The Fund for Sandwich, established by a group of activists, will build a pool of funds and distribute them.

That process will be managed by the Cape Cod Foundation, which oversees similar funds in Chatham and Falmouth.

Foundation Executive Director Kristin O’Malley said the local interests which drive each town to establish these funds is more easily utilized by centralizing the efforts with the nearly 30-year-old institution.

“There’s a local advisory community which works in partnerships in groups in each town, responsible for raising funds and helping with the grant distribution,” O’Malley said.

Human and health services, local development, education and the arts will be the primary areas of focus, according to a press release released regarding the program.

The Falmouth Fund, which was founded in 2009, has allocated approximately $75,000 in the past year alone.

Fundraising for the new fund will begin in the new year.
