ORLEANS – GUAPO’s and the local community will come together to support 15 year-old Wellfleet resident Sam Long, as he awaits a new heart  on October 29.

A former student at Nauset Regional High School, Long was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy last March and is one of approximately 120 teens in the country waiting for a heart transplant.

Funds raised at the event will help cover the family’s mounting medical bills.

From 4-6 p.m., all are invited to GUAPO’s in Orleans to raise funds for the Long family through prize drawings, a silent auction and donations at the door.

A $5 donation at the door will include complimentary appetizers from the GUAPO’s menu and a margarita sample.

Dozens of items and gift certificates to local businesses will also be available through a prize drawing and silent auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the family.
