BARNSTABLE – The Town of Barnstable is ranked the 5th happiest and healthiest community in the country, according to a recent study conducted by Gallup-Healthways.
Research was conducted in 190 towns and cities nationwide, measuring how residents feel about community, social ties, health, financial security, and a sense of purpose.
The top ranked community in the country was the Naples, Florida area, followed by Salinas, California, Sarasota/Bradenton, Florida, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
Barnstable was the top-ranked small community in the annual study and also had the lowest healthcare insecurity, according to Gallup-Healthways. Barnstable was ranked third in highest health insurance coverage, with 96 percent, behind only Norwich/New London, Connecticut and the Albany capital region in New York.
Worcester finished in the bottom 10 of the overall rankings, checking in at 183.
