HYANNIS – Gas prices in Massachusetts have inched up one cent over the past week.
AAA Northeast reports that the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular unleaded is $2.84 in the Bay State.
That price is seven cents lower than the national average and is 29 cents higher than at this time last year.
“Crude oil has priced higher amid concerns of global crude supply and geopolitical tensions, including pending sanctions with Iran and Venezuela’s unstable economy,” said Mary Maguire, Director of Public and Legislative Affairs for AAA Northeast. “In much of the country this has resulted in increases at the gas pumps, but strong supplies have kept those higher prices from reaching our area, at least to this point.”
According to GasBuddy.com, prices on Cape Cod are between $2.75 and $3.20.
